More than 25 domestic and international flights operated by Indian airlines received bomb threats on Friday, October 25, 2024. An official spokesperson from IndiGo reported that seven of its flights received security alerts, including flight 6E 87 from Kozhikode to Dammam.
Sources indicated that around seven flights each from IndiGo, Vistara, and SpiceJet were affected, while Air India encountered bomb threats on six flights. Specific IndiGo flights, including 6E 2099 (Udaipur to Delhi), 6E 11 (Delhi to Istanbul), 6E 58 (Jeddah to Mumbai), 6E 17 (Mumbai to Istanbul), 6E 108 (Hyderabad to Chandigarh), and 6E 133 (Pune to Jodhpur), were identified as receiving threats.
In line with security protocols, IndiGo confirmed that flight 6E 2099 was redirected to an isolation bay prior to take-off, and all passengers were safely disembarked.
In the past 12 days alone, over 275 flights operated by Indian carriers have reportedly received bomb threats, primarily communicated through social media channels. The government is actively engaging with social media companies to track and address these hoax threats, aiming to identify individuals behind these disruptive activities.
