ECNETNews has learned that a new Dexter: Original Sin trailer has been released, along with the announcement of a sequel series to the iconic crime drama, featuring Michael C. Hall.
The trailer for Dexter: Original Sin showcases the opening sequence of the upcoming series, which stars Patrick Gibson as a young Dexter. Michael C. Hall will provide the inner monologue narration for the character. Set in the ’90s, Dexter: Original Sin will explore the origins of the notorious serial killer and forensic technician.
What is Dexter: Resurrection about?
In addition to the Original Sin details, ECNETNews reports that Showtime is developing a follow-up series titled Dexter: Resurrection. This exciting news was shared during Showtime’s panel event at San Diego Comic-Con, where Hall made a surprise appearance to delight fans.
Although specifics about the new series remain limited, it will be set in present-day and act as a continuation of 2021’s Dexter: New Blood, a miniseries that served as a sequel to the original show.
“We are thrilled to have the brilliant Michael C. Hall reprise his iconic role as Dexter Morgan in Showtime’s most successful series ever,” stated Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global co-CEO and president/CEO of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios. “While Dexter: Resurrection will resonate with the tens of millions of longtime fans, Dexter: Original Sin aims to engage a whole new generation of viewers by starting at the series’ roots, ensuring satisfaction for both new and existing fans.”
Originally portrayed by Hall, Dexter captured viewers’ attention during its eight-season run that began in 2006. The series also featured notable performances from James Remar as Dexter’s father, Jennifer Carpenter as Debra, Julie Benz as Rita Bennett, Erik King as James Doakes, Lauren Vélez as María LaGuerta, and David Zayas as Angel Batista.
