Sony has officially announced the remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn for both PS5 and PC during its latest State of Play event. As part of this announcement, the price of the PS4 version of the game has seen a significant increase. In a notable move, the original Horizon Zero Dawn has been removed from sale on major platforms like Steam and the Epic Games Store.
While the Complete Edition is still listed on Steam, it is currently unavailable for purchase and directs fans to the newly announced Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West. Notably, the remastered version will require a PlayStation Network connection, a decision that has sparked controversy and echoes the mixed reviews faced by God of War Ragnarok due to similar requirements.
Visually, the remastered edition boasts significant enhancements, bringing it closer in quality to Horizon Forbidden West. Upgraded character models, improved textures, and new shading techniques contribute to this visual overhaul. Additionally, over 10 hours of fresh motion capture performances have been recorded for the remaster.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is set to launch on October 31 for PC and PS5. Existing owners of the original game can upgrade to the PS5 version for a cost of $10.
