ECNETNews reports that ChatGPT has launched its new Voice Mode update, now available for some paying users, though it won’t feature any likeness to famous voices.
Recently, the CEO of OpenAI revealed that ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode is rolling out to select $20 per month ChatGPT Plus subscribers. Currently, users have access to four preset voices, after the removal of a fifth voice that had drawn significant criticism.
The company shared the news on social media, stating that this feature is currently accessible to a limited group of ChatGPT Plus users. OpenAI plans to expand access systematically, aiming for all Plus subscribers to have it by fall.
OpenAI introduced its new AI model, GPT-4o, earlier this year, which combines text, video, and audio capabilities alongside various voice options. However, a previous voice closely resembling that of a known actress was pulled following legal concerns.
To prioritize user privacy, OpenAI has trained the model to operate strictly within the designated voices and has integrated safeguards to prevent the generation of inappropriate or copyrighted content.
ChatGPT Plus subscribers curious about their inclusion in this limited release will receive an email notification and an in-app message if selected.
The rollout was initially expected in June but faced delays. OpenAI has announced plans to provide a comprehensive report on GPT-4o’s features, limitations, and safety assessments in the approaching weeks.
Additional features are anticipated as part of the Voice Mode update, enhancing the user experience significantly.
