The Metro Bank One-Day Cup final between Somerset and Glamorgan has been postponed to a reserve day after rain disrupted play on Sunday at Trent Bridge. The highly anticipated match was set to commence at 11 am, but persistent rain prevented the toss and kept the covers firmly in place on the pitch.
As rain continued throughout the afternoon in Nottingham, the cut-off time for the match was determined to be 4:02 pm. However, shortly after 2:30 pm, officials made the decision to abandon play for the day due to no signs of weather improvement.
The final is now slated for Monday at 11 am, although additional rain is expected, which may lead to further interruptions. Should the match yield no result after the reserve day, the trophy will be shared between the two teams.
Somerset is aiming to secure the title and bring silverware back to Taunton just days after narrowly missing out on their first Vitality County Championship title, losing to Lancashire while Surrey retained the trophy with a game to spare.
Glamorgan, the One-Day Cup winners in 2021, are also eager to finish the season on a high note after struggling in both the Vitality Blast and Division Two of the County Championship.
