Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, has urged the newly elected Edo State governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to honor his electoral commitments to the citizens of the state. This call to action came during a visit from the governor-elect and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, to the Oba’s palace in Benin City, where they presented their Certificates of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The Oba expressed his confidence in the governor-elect’s capability to provide effective governance, praising the peaceful conduct of the elections held on September 21, 2024, and thanking security agencies and President Bola Tinubu for their roles in this success.
He emphasized the importance of fulfilling campaign promises, saying, “Remember, this palace is open to you. You will do your best to carry out the promises you made during your campaigns, and more blessings will come.”
In light of the upcoming Emoro festival, also known as the new yam festival, and his 8th coronation anniversary, the monarch vowed to continue his prayers for the success of the new administration.
Governor Okpebholo expressed gratitude to the Oba for his unwavering prayers and support, reiterating their commitment to serving the people and delivering on their promises.
