Known for his powerful performances in both dramatic and action roles, Neeson continues to captivate audiences at the age of 72 with his remarkable versatility and dedication. However, the question remains: is he preparing to step away from the big screen?
Here’s the latest update.
Is Liam Neeson retiring from acting?
As of now, Neeson has not confirmed any plans to retire from acting.
In a recent interview, Neeson discussed his views on retirement while reflecting on the physical demands of performing stunts in movies. Acknowledging the challenges that come with aging, he emphasized his commitment to doing his own stunts, a hallmark of his iconic roles in films like Taken. “I’m 72 — it has to stop at some stage. You can’t fool audiences,” he remarked, revealing his concerns about relying on his collaborators for fight scenes.
Neeson mentioned he is contemplating a possible retirement by the end of 2025, stating, “Maybe the end of next year. I think that’s it.” However, this decision remains uncertain. In fact, far from diminishing his workload, Neeson is scheduled to appear in at least four to five upcoming films currently in various stages of production. Among these is The Naked Gun, set to hit theaters in August 2025. Additional titles include Thug, Cold Storage, Absolution, and Hotel Tehran, along with a sequel to 2021’s The Ice Road.
Beginning his career in the late 1970s, Neeson garnered acclaim for his performances in notable drama projects like Husbands and Wives and The Dead Pool. His career took a transformative turn with his role in Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List, which earned him worldwide recognition and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
