On January 1, 2025, devotees at the Yoga Narasimhaswamy Temple in Vijayanagar, Mysuru, celebrated the New Year with a special distribution of laddus by temple authorities. The temple is continuing its tradition of distributing two lakh laddus to mark the occasion, a practice that has been cherished for many years.
As thousands flocked to the temple for their darshan, each visitor received a laddu on their way home, further enhancing the festive spirit of the day.
Sri Bhashyam Swami, a key figure in the temple trust, personally distributed laddus and extended New Year wishes to attendees. The distribution is set to continue until midnight.
Devotees expressed their gratitude for this beloved tradition and voiced their happiness over the sweet treats. The temple has seen the number of laddus grow from an initial offering of 1,000 in its early years to a remarkable two lakh in recent celebrations.
The preparation for the laddus began a week prior, with a dedicated team diligently crafting the massive quantity required for this event. According to temple officials, the ingredients for the two lakh laddus included 100 quintals of gram flour, 200 quintals of sugar, 10,000 liters of edible oil, 500 kg each of cashew nuts, dry grapes, and almonds, among other key components, for a truly festive creation.
