Two Exciting New Models of AirPods 4 on the Horizon
Clarifying the launch, this new product line will introduce a mid-tier option, distinct from the premium AirPods Pro. Currently, Apple continues to offer the second-generation AirPods as an entry-level option, with AirPods 3 serving as a mid-tier alternative. The new AirPods 4 will solidify these tiers in Apple’s wireless earbud lineup by replacing both the AirPods 2 and AirPods 3 with two brand-new releases.

According to reports, both AirPods 4 variants will undergo a redesign to closely mimic the AirPods Pro aesthetic. The new models will feature shorter stems and enhanced audio quality, alongside a redesigned charging case. Notably, both models will transition from the lightning cable to USB-C charging.
In regard to charging issues, it has been revealed that Apple identified a software bug contributing to battery drain problems with the AirPods. This issue has reportedly been resolved in time for the AirPods 4 debut.
What differentiates the two upcoming AirPods 4 models? The advanced version will come with a premium charging case featuring a built-in speaker, aimed at helping users locate their AirPods using Apple’s Find My feature. However, it’s uncertain if this case speaker will serve any additional functions.
The mid-tier AirPods 4 is also anticipated to include noise cancellation capabilities comparable to the AirPods Pro, whereas the entry-level model will not feature this technology.
Future Developments for AirPods
Upcoming AirPods may also include a groundbreaking new feature. Reports suggest that Apple is developing hearing health functionalities, internally dubbed Yodel, designed to transform AirPods into a hearing aid alternative. This feature is expected to include a hearing test capability as well.
However, no updates for the AirPods Pro or AirPods Max headphones are expected at this year’s Apple event. A revamped AirPods Pro featuring a new design and improved noise cancellation is anticipated for release next year, along with an AirPods Max update introducing new colors and USB-C charging.
