Mysterious flying objects have been dominating the skies of New Jersey, and even days after the initial sightings, little is known about their origin or purpose. Reports of these enigmatic drones began surfacing in mid-November, with witnesses spotting them over residential areas, military sites, and prominent locations, including Trump’s golf club in Bedminster.
Investigations by federal entities such as the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Federal Aviation Administration have yet to shed light on the situation. The Pentagon has indicated that these drones are unlikely to be military in nature or originating from foreign sources. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and U.S. Senator Andy Kim have personally conducted drone searches but have not obtained any definitive answers.
Despite the ongoing mystery, Governor Murphy and law enforcement officials believe these drones pose no threat to public safety. “Tonight I met with state police officials and radar technicians at the Regional Operations & Intelligence Center who are monitoring for unmanned aircraft,” Murphy stated. “The public deserves clear answers – we will continue to seek more information from the federal government.”
The fascination surrounding the drones has even caught the attention of political figures. The president-elect urged for transparency, stating, “Let the public know, and now. Otherwise, shoot them down!” As the situation unfolds, lawmakers are contemplating stricter regulations on the operation of unmanned aircraft.
Interestingly, while some reported sightings may indeed be drones, many have been identified as stars, conventional aircraft, or other flying objects commonly seen around New Jersey’s airspace.
A recent post by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, who claimed to have seen “dozens of large drones” above his residence, was debunked when the accompanying video was revealed to show simply stars and the constellation Orion.
Regardless of the truth behind these aerial phenomena, Harry Direen, an electronic and software engineering specialist, noted that whatever is behind the sightings is “clearly … not being very stealthy.”
