Excitement is building as the highly anticipated Fruit Festival 2024 approaches, set to kick off on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Charlestown Waterfront.
Sponsored by local businesses, including The Finished Touch Ltd TFT and ECGC, the festival will feature a showcase of locally grown fruits at various stalls open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., thanks to the support from Nevis’s Ministry of Agriculture.
Nevis Premier Mark Brantley encourages street vendors to take part, urging them to craft innovative products using a diverse range of fruits. The festival promises a vibrant lineup, including fruit, ice cream, and cake competitions, along with various games for attendees to enjoy.
Festival-goers can look forward to a plethora of entertaining activities and the chance to win fantastic surprise gifts throughout the event.
Entertainment will be provided by DJ X-Ray and the Kasanova Band, ensuring a lively atmosphere for visitors from around the globe.
This exciting event will showcase the versatility of local fruits, as street vendors collaborate with skilled chefs to present creative dishes and cocktails, making each stall a unique experience.
The Fruit Festival aims to promote local agriculture, providing both residents and vendors with valuable income opportunities.
Additionally, the festival will address food security concerns by encouraging the consumption of organic and locally sourced products. Premier Brantley emphasizes the importance of this event in fostering greater use of local goods.
In line with the Ministry of Agriculture’s 25 by 25 initiative, efforts are also underway to reduce food import rates.
