OMAHA, Neb. — Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen sustained injuries on Sunday after being thrown off a horse during a family outing. He is anticipated to remain hospitalized for several days.
The first-term Republican governor was reportedly riding a new horse when the incident occurred. Following the fall, he was initially taken to a hospital in Columbus, Nebraska, before being transferred to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Fortunately, the governor is conscious and alert, maintaining communication with his staff. Medical professionals expect him to recuperate for a few days at the Omaha facility.
Pillen, 68, took office in 2022. Prior to his governorship, he had a successful career as a veterinarian and operated a livestock business.
