The lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, confirmed her commitment to returning to her constituency for the upcoming Sallah break. She urged her supporters to dismiss rumors suggesting that her visit has been canceled.
In an official statement released on Tuesday morning, Akpoti-Uduaghan stated, “We are pleased to confirm that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Sallah visit to Kogi Central Senatorial District will proceed as planned.” The senator emphasized that there has been no official announcement regarding any changes to her itinerary.
Acknowledging her responsibilities as a lawmaker, she called on her constituents to join her in celebrating Eid-el-Fitr. “As the senator representing Kogi Central, I am dedicated to engaging with my community and fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation,” she expressed.
The senator reaffirmed her commitment to the people of Kogi Central and looked forward to celebrating the holiday together. “We assure the public that all necessary arrangements are in place for a successful and joyous event,” the statement added, inviting community members to partake in this special occasion.
This announcement comes just hours after the Kogi State Government imposed a ban on rallies and public gatherings due to security concerns. The government has also restricted fishing and related activities following tragic incidents that led to the loss of two lives in Kasemiya, Katubo, and Umozu Ette in Kogi West.
State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, stated that these measures are aimed at preventing any security breaches that could destabilize the area. He highlighted intelligence reports indicating that there are individuals planning to “stage some violent rallies under the guise of political and religious agitations” in Kogi Central.
