The Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure has announced a significant initiative aimed at promoting eco-friendly transportation in Nigeria. The agency will provide a 50 per cent discount to drivers who wish to convert their vehicles utilizing the newly launched MY-CNG App.
This announcement was made during the launch of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative’s Conversion Incentive Programme, targeting the rideshare sector at NASENI’s CNG Engineering, Training, and Conversion facility in Utako, Abuja. The event was attended by key stakeholders, emphasizing the initiative’s importance in Nigeria’s energy landscape.
In a statement, it was noted that the initiative has quickly gained traction in discussions regarding the nation’s energy future. “A little over two months ago, we commissioned this all-in-one CNG facility in collaboration with notable partners. The Conversion Incentive Programme is designed for rideshare drivers, such as those in the sector, who will benefit from the 50 per cent discount upon utilizing the MY-CNG App,” he stated.
Compressed natural gas (CNG) is a cleaner and more affordable fuel alternative that can potentially cut transportation costs by up to 70 per cent, delivering considerable savings for vehicle owners. This initiative is seen as a proactive response to current economic challenges, offering a practical solution to alleviate the cost of living for Nigerians.
The successful launch of the MY-CNG App and the corresponding Conversion Incentive Programme underscores the agency’s commitment to leveraging technology for national development.
