In a remarkable achievement, Devaansh, the nine-year-old son of IT Minister Nara Lokesh, has set a world record for the ‘Fastest Checkmate Solver – 175 Puzzles’. The World Book of Records officially recognized this milestone with a certificate dated December 21.
The record-breaking event showcased Devaansh as he tackled a series of increasingly challenging checkmate puzzles, drawn from the prestigious chess collection ‘5334 Problems, Combinations, and Games’ by László Polgár, all within a limited timeframe.
Expressing his joy, Nara Lokesh credited Devaansh’s mother and his coach for their unwavering support and guidance. He highlighted that Devaansh underwent intensive training for six months, driven by the inspiring performances of Indian chess players on the global stage.
Coach K. Rajashekar Reddy praised Devaansh’s exceptional mental agility, noting his ability to swiftly solve 175 intricate puzzles. In addition to his primary record, Devaansh also set two other impressive records: completing the seven-disc Tower of Hanoi in just 1 minute and 43 seconds and arranging nine chess boards with all 32 pieces correctly in just five minutes. All record attempts were meticulously overseen by adjudicators and officials from the World Book of Records in London.
