The highly anticipated All-In-One Edition of My Neighbor Totoro’s Film Comic series has officially launched, now available for $27, down from its original price of $30. This expansive 584-page hardcover collects all six My Neighbor Totoro trade paperback comic books, providing a cost-effective solution for fans, as acquiring each individually could exceed double the price of this omnibus edition.
Additionally, fans can now preorder the hardcover omnibus versions of Kiki’s Delivery Service Film Comic, scheduled for release on October 22, and Spirited Away Film Comic, set for January 28, 2025. Both titles are particularly sought after, with copies of Spirited Away proving especially rare, given its status as the highest-grossing film in Studio Ghibli history, and the first Japanese animated film to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
These graphic novels stand out for their unique use of original film animation cells as illustrations, creatively reformatted into comic book and manga panels. Spirited Away features a staggering total of 864 pages, while both My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service consist of 584 pages each. Future releases may include Howl’s Moving Castle, which also has its own film comic series.
For enthusiasts of Studio Ghibli’s art direction, this collection serves as a remarkable way to delve into the intricate details of these beloved stories. The comics, crafted from actual film cells, can be appreciated as affordable art books as well. Recommended age ranges for readers vary: My Neighbor Totoro is suitable for ages 8-11, and Kiki’s Delivery Service for 11-14. While a recommended age for Spirited Away hasn’t been listed, it was initially intended for readers aged nine and up when first published.
Though Studio Ghibli films can be streamed, collectors might find the limited-edition Blu-ray versions, complete with matching steelbook cases, worth their investment. Current retail prices feature Spirited Away at $15, My Neighbor Totoro at $19, and Kiki’s Delivery Service at $23, alongside a special 30th Anniversary Edition of My Neighbor Totoro, offered for $37, which includes a CD soundtrack and a 40-page book.
In July, The Boy and the Heron, became the first Studio Ghibli film released on 4K Blu-ray. The steelbook edition is currently available for $34 and includes both 4K and standard Blu-ray discs.
Ghibli enthusiasts can also expand their home libraries with various Studio Ghibli books, including traditional art books for Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Kiki’s Delivery Service. Notably, the Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind manga box set is currently marked down to $53 from $80, offering fans a significant deal on this essential collection.
