Billionaire Elon Musk has made a significant contribution of nearly $75 million to the political action committee he established to support Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. This development underscores Musk’s deepening involvement with the Republican Party.
As the world’s richest individual, Musk has become increasingly prominent in Trump’s campaign, recently sharing the stage with him at a Pennsylvania rally and actively criticizing his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris, on social media platforms.
Trump frequently references Musk during his rallies and has pledged to include him on a committee aimed at reducing government bureaucracy. Current polling indicates that Harris and Trump are in a tightly contested race for the presidency.
Musk’s political action committee, America PAC, raised $74.95 million in support of Trump from July 1 to September 30, as reported in recent federal filings. The PAC is focused on grassroots efforts to drive voter turnout, particularly in key battleground states like Pennsylvania, which are crucial for determining the election’s outcome.
The America PAC website offers incentives for those who sign up to assist with voter mobilization, promising $30 per hour along with performance bonuses. Additionally, Musk previously announced a $47 reward for individuals who successfully persuade swing-state voters to endorse a petition championing free speech and the right to bear arms.
Musk’s endorsement of Trump came after an assassination attempt on the former president in July.
In contrast, during the same financial reporting period, Harris’s primary PAC, the Harris Victory Fund, garnered an impressive $633 million. Harris re-entered the presidential race following President Joe Biden’s departure, spurred on by a lackluster debate performance against Trump.
Since then, the vice president has revitalized her party’s base through an extensive campaign across the nation, particularly targeting battleground states. Year-to-date, Harris’s political action committee has approached nearly one billion dollars in receipts, with total funds reported at $931.2 million.
