Lego has phased out several Super Mario building sets, including popular designs based on Donkey Kong. Those interested in acquiring these sets will be pleased to know that several Donkey Kong Lego sets are now back in stock. Notably, Diddy Kong’s Mine Cart Ride is available for $79, down from its original price of $110. This extensive 1,157-piece set stands out as the largest Donkey Kong Lego creation and is among the most intricate Super Mario expansion sets.
Diddy Kong’s Mine Cart Ride allows fans to immerse themselves in various challenges, including mine cart rides, airplane flights, and rock explosions. The set features four Lego figures: Funky Kong, Diddy Kong, Snaggles, and a Mole Miner, all of whom can interact with Lego Mario, Luigi, and Peach figures from the Super Mario starter sets. Additionally, all three Super Mario Lego starter sets are currently at reduced prices.
In addition to the Diddy Kong set, other smaller Donkey Kong Lego kits are now available. Dixie Kong’s Jungle Jam can be purchased for $19 (down from $28), and the Rambi the Rhino figure set is priced at $11. Like the Diddy Kong set, these kits were also retired last November.
While Donkey Kong’s Tree House remains unavailable, Lego’s new Mario Kart series offers an alternative for fans looking for Donkey Kong merchandise. This lineup includes the 387-piece Donkey Kong & DK Jumbo for $35, featuring a buildable figure that retains similarities to the original Tree House figure. Although this Mario Kart kit is not discounted, there are savings available on other playsets from the series.
Lego Mario Kart launched on January 1 with six different playsets, including options like Yoshi Bike, Baby Mario vs. Baby Luigi, and Toad’s Garage. Also exciting for collectors, Lego plans to enhance the series with a 1,972-piece Mario Kart display model for adults set to release on May 15.
