Phil Elverum has unveiled a new single titled "I Saw Another Bird" from his upcoming album Night Palace, marking his return as Mount Eerie after a six-year hiatus. This track is the third single released from the album, following the previously shared songs "I Walk" and "Broom of Wind."
Elverum described the song as a reflection of deep emotions beneath its playful title, linking it to his earlier work A Crow Looked At Me. He expressed that while "we are ridiculous little people toiling on the ground, the sublime darts around above us always," emphasizing the balance between mundane life and profound mysteries.
Night Palace is set to release on November 1 and is produced under his own label. Elverum’s last full-length album as Mount Eerie was the collaborative project Lost Wisdom, Pt. 2 in 2019, and he revived his earlier project, the Microphones, with the album Microphones in 2020 during the pandemic.
