The highly anticipated release of Monster Hunter Wilds is fast approaching, and excitement is building within the gaming community. In the meantime, a dedicated player has taken on a unique challenge in the previous installment, Monster Hunter: World. Aaron Callaway has successfully completed the game without using any weapons, relying solely on character emotes, notably the Hadoken fireball made famous by Street Fighter’s iconic characters.
To showcase this impressive feat, Callaway shared a video demonstrating his emote-only playthrough of Monster Hunter: World. Initially, he experimented with emotes from other franchises, such as Shoryuken and guns from Devil May Cry; however, he found that Shoryuken drained too much stamina and the Devil May Cry emote didn’t yield the desired results. Ultimately, he settled on the Hadoken, which, while weak with a maximum damage output of 13 points, proved to be the most effective option.
To validate his accomplishment, Callaway provided gameplay footage from his challenging run, clocking in at nearly three hours. These videos clearly illustrate that completing the game in such a manner is achievable, despite the absence of any official achievement or trophy for the effort.
In related news, Capcom has announced a new cross-platform open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds set to take place in February, spanning two weekends. The initial open beta for Wilds last fall saw nearly 500,000 concurrent players on Steam. While Capcom has indicated that improvements based on player feedback will be made before the game’s official launch, fans will need to wait until February 28 to explore the final enhancements awaiting them.
