Monster Hunter Wilds Unveils Gender-Neutral Armor Customization
In a groundbreaking announcement during the recent developer livestream at Gamescom, Capcom revealed that players will have the ability to mix and match armor pieces from both male and female sets in the upcoming release, Monster Hunter Wilds. This innovative feature allows players to equip any armor piece, regardless of the character’s selected gender.
This marks a significant shift in the Monster Hunter series, as previous iterations compartmentalized armor designs based on character gender. While Monster Hunter Wilds will still offer distinct armor designs for each gender, players will no longer be restricted to just one type. Instead, they can select their preferred armor pieces from various sets, enhancing customization options beyond previous limits.
The introduction of this feature effectively doubles the cosmetic choices available, addressing previous complaints regarding rigid character appearance modifications. In earlier games like Monster Hunter World, players received only a single character-edit voucher for free, with additional requests costing real money. This limitation often forced players to create new characters if they wished to change their appearance or gender, a system many found cumbersome.
With Monster Hunter Wilds, players who prioritize visual aesthetics in their gear will gain unprecedented freedom to curate their outfits. Scheduled for release in 2025, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Additionally, a new story trailer featured during Gamescom Opening Night Live showcased new monsters and exciting companions, raising anticipation for this highly anticipated title.
