In a significant development, Russia has announced the extension of its gasoline export ban from October until the end of December 2024. This move aims to stabilize domestic supply in light of seasonal demand and ongoing refinery repairs, according to the Russian government. Notably, Mongolia is exempt from this ban; however, challenges related to fuel withdrawals have led to reduced supply from importers.
In response to the situation, the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority of Mongolia has clarified that the country’s gasoline and diesel reserves remain unaffected by Russia’s fuel export restrictions. Mongolia is well-stocked, boasting a total of 177,000 tons of gasoline, which includes 42,000 tons of AI-92 gasoline, 124,000 tons of diesel fuel, 4,500 tons of AI-95 gasoline, 6,223 tons of TC-1 gasoline, and 613 tons of A-80 gasoline.
As of 2024, Mongolia has successfully imported a total of 1.7 million tons of oil products, ensuring a stable supply for its domestic needs.
