Tomb Raider enthusiasts have been on the edge of their seats, awaiting a new installment in the iconic series since the release of 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Although the timeline for Lara Croft’s next adventure remains uncertain, fans can look forward to the revival of a beloved spin-off title. ECNETNews reports that Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is set to launch on iOS and Android devices on February 27.
Originally debuting in 2010 on consoles, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light departed from the traditional Tomb Raider gameplay, introducing a fixed-camera perspective and cooperative gameplay mechanics. In this game, Lara joins forces with an ancient Mayan warrior, Totec, to confront the sinister spirit known as Xolotl. Earlier this year, Feral Interactive successfully reintroduced both the Guardian of Light and its sequel, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, to the Nintendo Switch as part of The Lara Croft Collection.
In addition to the gaming world, ECNETNews highlights that a live-action Tomb Raider series is in the works, potentially featuring a notable actress in the lead role. Furthermore, a new Tomb Raider game, not linked to the live-action series, is slated for release with Amazon’s support. Netflix has also committed to a second season of the animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft.
For console gamers eager to bridge the gap between sequels, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered offers modern ports of classic titles, including Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider: Chronicles, and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. This collection will be available on February 14 for Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
