The President of the Police Officers Wives Association has recently provided significant relief efforts to support the wives of police officers affected by severe flooding in Maiduguri, Borno State. In a heartfelt distribution event held at the state police command, millions of naira worth of aid was distributed, including essential items such as 25kg bags of rice, bedding materials, soap, traditional wrappers, and school supplies for children.
Dr. Elizabeth Egbetokun expressed her deep concern for those impacted by the floods, which resulted in the loss of over 30 lives and displaced millions. She stated, “Since I learned of the devastating flood, my thoughts have been with the officers’ wives affected. Today, I am grateful to be able to provide them with these relief materials.”
During the event, the Borno State Commissioner of Police also contributed to the initiative, donating N1 million to support the relief efforts. He commended Dr. Egbetokun for her compassion and noted that her assistance would significantly help restore hope and a sense of community among the victims.
The recent floods have had a catastrophic impact on Maiduguri, inundating over 70 percent of the city and resulting in extensive damage to both public and private properties.
