Mineral, a pivotal band in the emo scene, has announced their farewell following a performance at the Best Friends Forever Festival. This three-day emo and indie-rock music event is set to take place from October 10-12 at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center.
In a heartfelt statement, the band’s lead singer reflected on their journey, expressing a sense of closure while also appreciating the opportunity to conclude their story thoughtfully. Mineral, known for blending emo with indie-rock and post-rock aesthetics, originally disbanded in 1998 after releasing two studio albums, an EP, and several singles. They reunited in 2014 for a brief tour and celebrated their 25th anniversary a few years later, during which they released new music and a retrospective book. Their last live performance occurred at Furnace Fest in Alabama in September 2021.
The Best Friends Forever Festival also features notable headliners Minus the Bear, making their first appearance since 2018, along with Jawbreaker, Rilo Kiley, and more. Other acts include Texas Is the Reason, Superchunk, Wednesday, Tigers Jaw, Rival Schools, and others. Special performances are scheduled, including Cursive playing Domestica and The Ugly Organ, and a reunion of the cult-favorite Midwest emo band Snowing.
Tickets for the all-ages festival are currently available. The inaugural 2024 edition of the festival previously featured headliners like Sunny Day Real Estate and Cap’n Jazz.
