Metz, the acclaimed Toronto-based trio known for their unique fusion of noise-rock, post-punk, and hardcore, has announced an “indefinite hiatus” following a series of European tour dates. In a heartfelt statement, the band expressed their gratitude for the 15+ years dedicated to their music, stating, “It has been nothing short of life-affirming. Metz has brought an immeasurable amount of joy to our lives, and we sincerely hope it has brought you some joy too.”
The band, formed in the late 2000s, achieved significant recognition with their self-titled debut release in 2012, which earned critical acclaim and a spot on the shortlist for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize. Metz continued to innovate, releasing four additional studio albums, with their latest project, Up on Gravity Hill, debuting in April.
