ECNETNews reports that Meta has unveiled a groundbreaking generative AI model designed to transform simple text into engaging images, videos, and audio clips.
Named Meta Movie Gen, this innovative tool empowers users to input text and automatically generate videos, personalize them, perform video editing, and create audio. The technology is trained on a diverse range of licensed and publicly available datasets.
While Meta Movie Gen shares similarities with other generative AI models, it marks a significant advancement in Meta’s ongoing AI endeavors, building upon previous innovations such as Llama Image. This development represents the third phase of Meta’s generative AI journey, integrating all earlier modalities. Meta emphasizes that these models are expected to inspire new products that could greatly enhance creativity.
According to Meta, “generative AI isn’t intended to replace the creativity of artists and animators.” However, the company believes in its potential to enable individuals to express themselves in novel ways and create opportunities for those who may not have had similar chances before.
“Our aspiration is that in the future, everyone will have the ability to bring their artistic visions to life and produce high-definition videos and audio using Movie Gen,” stated a company representative.
Currently, Movie Gen is not yet available for public use. Chris Cox, Meta’s chief product officer, indicated that the company is not ready for an imminent product release due to high costs and lengthy generation time, but he expressed excitement about the impressive results observed so far.
Meta is focused on refining the model before its public release. “We are committed to collaborating with filmmakers and creators to incorporate their feedback as we enhance our models leading up to a potential release,” the company remarked. “By working together, we aim to develop tools that empower people to explore their creativity in unprecedented ways. Imagine creating a personalized ‘day in the life’ video for sharing or crafting a unique animated birthday greeting for a friend—all driven by simple text prompts.”
