The Niger State Police Command has apprehended a man identified as Mubarak, who is suspected to have mental health issues, for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old man, Shamseen Danshehu, to death.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening in the Kwangila area of Minna, the capital of Niger State. Witnesses reported that Mubarak and Danshehu became involved in a physical altercation, during which Mubarak allegedly used a pair of scissors to stab Danshehu in the chest.
Emergency services transported Danshehu to a nearby general hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Local residents, some of whom are familiar with Mubarak’s behavior, stated that he is often seen scavenging through refuse containers in the neighborhood.
The police spokesperson confirmed Danshehu’s death and stated that an investigation is ongoing. “It was reported that Mubarak, suspected of being mentally unstable and known for scavenging in Kwangila, engaged in a fight with passerby Shamseen Danshehu. During this confrontation, Mubarak stabbed Danshehu in the chest,” the police spokesperson said. “The victim was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The suspect has been taken into custody for further investigation.”
