The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has made a significant arrest, apprehending a 27-year-old automobile technician, Abiodun Ajao, for allegedly stealing and dismembering a vehicle belonging to a customer, with the number plate Lagos BDG 956-FJ.
Dyke Ogbonnaya, the Public Relations Officer for Ogun NSCDC Command, confirmed the arrest in an official statement. According to Ogbonnaya, the suspect had unlawfully driven the vehicle from Lagos to Idona, Ijebu Imusin, Ogun State, and had commenced dismembering it for resale before officers intervened.
During interrogation by NSCDC officials from the Ijebu East Central Division, Ajao claimed, “The engine of the vehicle is bad, and I’m just trying to find some buyers for the parts since the engine is knocked and unusable.” Upon further investigation, he revealed that the car had been brought to him for repairs, and he was conducting a test drive to ensure the quality of the work done before returning it to the customer.
Ogbonnaya highlighted that Ajao admitted to having previously driven the vehicle to various locations in Lagos with passengers before attempting to dismantle it in Ijebu Imusin. He has since confessed to the crime and is reportedly pleading for leniency from the NSCDC officers.
As this investigation unfolds, the community is reminded of the importance of security and vigilance regarding vehicle repairs and theft.
