Kurnool City is taking significant steps to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance road safety, according to Municipal Commissioner P.V. Ramalingeswar. Proactive measures are underway to prevent accidents and streamline transportation within the city.
A recent meeting of the road safety sub-committee was held at the municipal council hall, bringing together traffic police officials and representatives from the urban planning and engineering departments of Kurnool Municipal Corporation.
The session concentrated on assessing the implementation of previous decisions made by the road safety committee. Key discussions included the development of actionable plans and innovative strategies to tackle current challenges.
Among the topics addressed were the expansion of the traffic junction at Kurnool Medical College, plans to create a road connecting Maddur Nagar to the C-Camp area, the demarcation of road expansion from the Checkpost to Nandikotkur road towards the outskirts, the relocation of pushcarts from sidewalks into designated zones, and the installation of barriers to enhance driver awareness and reduce accidents near construction sites.
The commissioner emphasized the importance of constructing nine new bus shelters, installing CCTV cameras, and building an additional bridge near the government hospital to further improve traffic management and safety in Kurnool City.
