A suspect has made his court appearance following a tragic attack on a German Christmas market that resulted in five fatalities and over 200 injuries.
The accused, identified as Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, is a doctor originally from Saudi Arabia. He immigrated to Germany in 2006 and was granted refugee status in 2016.
This incident has sparked significant criticism towards German authorities as reports indicate that the alleged attacker gained access to the market through an emergency vehicle lane.
During a visit to the site on Saturday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, along with various ministers and local leaders, faced public outcry, with attendees expressing their anger over perceived security oversights.
