The Edo State Police Command has apprehended a man named Theophilus Osazuwa in connection with the tragic death of his four-year-old son. Authorities suspect that Osazuwa may have committed this act while under the influence of hard drugs.
In a statement released by the police spokesperson, it was disclosed that the incident took place around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Ogbeson Quarters, off Benin-Agbor Road in Benin City. According to reports, Osazuwa had returned home before descending into a trance-like state.
During this disturbing episode, he allegedly shouted “Holy Ghost fire” and violently slammed his son against a wall, leading to the child’s untimely death. Efforts to save the boy, identified as Testimony Osazuwa, were unsuccessful, as he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, highlighting Osazuwa’s history of substance abuse as a potential factor in the incident. The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Umoru Ozigi, has issued a warning to the youth regarding the dangers associated with illicit drug use, underscoring the severe health implications and risks to personal safety as well as that of others in the community.
