Melco Resorts & Entertainment, a leading operator in the casino industry, is set to invest significantly in integrated resorts and hotels across Thailand. The company is capitalizing on the country’s vibrant tourism scene and rich cultural heritage, alongside the anticipated legalization of gambling.
Thailand’s reputation as a premier tourist destination is further enhanced by its renowned hospitality and cultural offerings, noted Melco’s executive leadership.
With the success of the HBO series generating interest, industry experts believe Thailand will emerge as a favored global destination this year.
During a recent event by the Thailand Creative Culture Agency, Melco announced the establishment of its new Bangkok office, aimed at exploring potential collaborations and opportunities.
The company is currently awaiting clarity on investment regulations related to entertainment complexes featuring casinos, which will help define the scale and financial planning for future projects.
The potential for development in major cities like Bangkok and Phuket is substantial, suggesting a promising future for the entertainment sector.
As part of its strategy, a Thai government committee is evaluating the number of casino complexes that will be authorized, with a proposal set to be presented to the cabinet for approval.
Melco currently operates six integrated resorts across various regions, attracting a remarkable 21 million visitors last year. The company is noted for driving longer stays and higher spending compared to its competitors, thanks to its unique entertainment and cultural offerings.
Looking ahead, tourism in Asia is expected to witness sustained growth, creating opportunities for the entertainment industry.
In partnership with the Thailand Creative Culture Agency, Melco is launching “Global Soft Power Talks” to host international creative experts in Thailand on February 24. This forum will feature notable figures across culinary arts, branding, design, and more.
The collaboration includes an intensive three-month training program for five selected Thai students, providing mentorship from industry leaders in the US, UK, Italy, France, and beyond.
Local leaders emphasize the need for Thai soft power to evolve, underscoring the importance of collaboration with world-class experts for impactful development.
The initiative aims to reskill over 20 million individuals by 2027, starting with plans to train 5,000 chefs this year and provide opportunities for aspiring athletes in Muay Thai gyms across the country.
