Lyra Pramuk is set to make waves with her upcoming album, Hymnal, the highly anticipated follow-up to her 2020 release, Fountain, which is scheduled to drop on June 13. The album features a powerful new single titled “Rewild,” showcasing Pramuk’s distinctive artistic vision.
Earlier this month, Pramuk unveiled “Vega” alongside the launch of her own label and arts hub. While this track is not included in the album, Hymnal draws conceptual inspiration from poems by artist Nadia Marcus that Pramuk has reinterpreted, pairing them with innovative music crafted in collaboration with the Sonar Quartett string ensemble.
In a recent statement, Pramuk emphasized the importance of music in fostering a “common good,” especially amid societal challenges like exploitation and surveillance. She articulated, “This work represents an attempt to articulate my own belief system. Everything in our society tells us to ignore our true power and connection with real life. We must cultivate interplanetary consciousness and share our stories with the universe about who we are.” Her journey as a trans artist has deeply influenced her perspectives, prompting her to envision a more holistic reality.
