Luke Humphries Prepares for Premier League Darts Showdown After Hitting Second Nine-Darter
Luke Humphries showcased his exceptional skill ahead of the highly anticipated Premier League Darts clash with Luke Littler by achieving his second nine-darter within a week at Player Championship 6. The reigning world champion secured a 6-3 victory over Andy Boulton in the first round on Wednesday, marking a standout performance.
Humphries’ impressive run took him to the final in Leicester, where he triumphed over several formidable opponents, including Jitse Van der Wal, Luke Woodhouse, William O’Connor, Damon Heta, and Ross Smith, before ultimately facing Gian van Veen in the final.
This latest nine-darter comes just six days after he last performed the feat against Rob Cross during Night Five of the Premier League Darts. This nine-darter is not only a personal achievement for Humphries but also his first televised nine-darter and fifth overall in his career, reinforcing his reputation in the sport.
Humphries is set to face Littler in the quarter-finals of Night Six of Premier League Darts on Thursday at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena. With both players having won four of the opening five nights, Humphries currently leads the standings by two points over the teenage world champion.
