ECNETNews is excited to announce the official U.S. release date for the highly anticipated film Look Back, which has been set for North American audiences. The rights for both theatrical and home distribution have been acquired, marking a significant milestone for this upcoming release.
Look Back U.S. Release Date
The film Look Back is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on October 4, 2024, featuring its original Japanese language version. Based on the critically acclaimed manga by best-selling author Tatsuki Fujimoto, renowned for works like Chainsaw Man, the movie is directed by Kiyotaka Oshiyama.
Look Back recently enjoyed tremendous success in Japan, where it premiered earlier this year. The film opened on over 100 screens and generated over 1 billion yen (approximately $6.9 million) at the box office, prompting an expanded run due to its impressive reception. This film also marks the debut production of Studio Durian, a company founded by Oshiyama. Previously, Oshiyama contributed as a Key Animator to Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron and worked on the anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man.
The official synopsis describes the film: “Popular and outgoing Fujino is celebrated by her classmates for her humorous comics in the class newspaper. One day, her teacher encourages her to share the creative space with Kyomoto, a reclusive student whose stunning artwork ignites a competitive spirit in Fujino. What begins as jealousy evolves as Fujino discovers their mutual passion for art.”
