Linkin Park has officially announced the release of their highly anticipated new studio album, From Zero, set to launch on November 15. This marks the band’s first album since One More Light debuted in May 2017. In conjunction with the announcement, they’ve unveiled a new single titled “The Emptiness Machine,” accompanied by a music video.
From Zero is particularly significant as it represents the band’s first project following the tragic passing of lead singer Chester Bennington in July 2017. The current lineup retains original members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, and Joe Hahn, and introduces new co-vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain.
Linkin Park has not performed live since the tribute concert in honor of Bennington at the Hollywood Bowl in October 2017. They are set to kick off their From Zero World Tour next week, with a detailed performance schedule expected to follow soon.
In the wake of Bennington’s death, Mike Shinoda released two solo albums, Post Traumatic and Dropped Frames, and won a Grammy Award for his remix work on Deftones’ "Passenger." Regarding the new album, Shinoda expressed gratitude for the band’s evolution, stating that the title relates to their beginnings and future direction. He emphasized that the album encapsulates their signature sound while embracing new experiences and collaborations.
As Linkin Park embarks on this new chapter, the band expresses excitement about the fresh energy and creativity brought by Armstrong and Brittain, signaling a revitalized approach to their music while honoring their legacy.
