BUENOS AIRES: In a tragic incident, former One Direction star Liam Payne was found dead outside a hotel in Buenos Aires after reportedly falling from his third-floor balcony. He was 31 years old.
According to Argentine police, they were alerted to a disturbance at the hotel located in the upscale Palermo neighborhood, where there were reports of an “aggressive man who appeared to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol.”
The hotel manager noted hearing a loud crash from the rear of the property, and upon arrival, officers discovered the singer had fallen from his balcony. Emergency personnel confirmed his death at the scene.
“I am in shock right now,” said a fellow musician who expressed their sorrow on social media. “Liam was always so kind to me. I cannot believe he is gone.”
Payne is survived by his son, Bear, whom he shares with British television personality Cheryl, born in 2017.
Emergency services had received a request for urgent assistance regarding an intoxicated guest who was reported to be causing damage in his room and whose life was in jeopardy due to the balcony. This alarming call prompted immediate action from authorities.
As night fell, crowds began to gather outside the hotel, with fans and bystanders offering condolences and support. Many were overcome with emotion, some shedding tears and others applauding in remembrance of the star.
