An Indian member of the Legislative Assembly, Gurpreet Gogi, tragically shot himself in an accidental incident that resulted in his death. The Aam Aadmi Party MLA sustained critical injuries to his head, according to family sources.
The unfortunate event unfolded around midnight, leading to Gogi being rushed to a local medical facility, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Local authorities confirmed that the circumstances surrounding the shooting appeared accidental.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jaskaran Singh Teja reported, “Family members indicate that he shot himself accidentally. Gurpreet Gogi was declared dead at the hospital, and his body is currently held at the mortuary.” He emphasized that the exact cause of death will be established following the completion of a post-mortem examination.
Investigations are ongoing to further clarify the surrounding circumstances of this tragic event. Gogi, who joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2022, previously made news for defeating a two-time Congress MLA in the Ludhiana assembly elections.
