43 Scholarships Awarded to Music Students Worldwide
MIAMI – The Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation awarded the Sebastián Yatra Scholarship to Cuban double bass player Leo Luna Roblejo during a special ceremony in Miami, marking a significant milestone in the Foundation’s commitment to fostering musical talent. This scholarship, valued up to $250,000, will allow Luna Roblejo to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Berklee College of Music in Boston this fall. The award supports all costs associated with his education, including tuition, room, board, and mentorship opportunities.
Known as the Prodigy Scholarship, it has been an annual initiative for the past ten years, sponsored by Latin music icons to enhance music education and celebrate Latin music genres. Previous sponsors include prominent artists such as Nicky Jam, Sofia Carson, and Juanes, among others.
After a highly competitive selection process, Luna Roblejo was chosen from a pool of hundreds of applicants worldwide. Since its inception, the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation has awarded over $10 million in scholarships, grants, and educational programs across the United States and Ibero-America.
“We are thrilled to present our tenth Prodigy Scholarship, continuing our mission to empower the next generation of Latin music creators,” said Raquel “Rocky” Egusquiza, Executive Director of the Foundation. “Thanks to the generosity of artists like Sebastián Yatra, we enable talented students to follow their passion for music and honor the rich legacy of Latin music.”
