Vehicular traffic on the Shiradi Ghat section of the Bengaluru-Mangaluru highway (NH 75) is facing significant disruptions due to a landslip at Doddathappale village in Sakleshpur taluk, Hassan district.
On July 30, large sections of a hill collapsed onto the roadway, trapping two trucks and a car in the resulting mudslide. Heavy earthmovers are currently engaged in clearing the debris to restore traffic flow.
This highway is a vital link between the coastal region and the state capital, Bengaluru, accommodating nearly 25,000 vehicles daily.
Previously, vehicle movement was halted on this stretch following landslips on July 18, leading the district administration to restrict traffic to daylight hours only.
At the time of this report, many vehicles remain stranded on the affected road.
Additionally, another significant landslip occurred near Harle estate in Sakleshpur taluk on the night of July 29, causing further disruptions. This landslide compromised an alternative route to the Bengaluru-Mangaluru highway, impacting access to several villages in the region.
Visuals show the extensive damage caused by the landslip near Sakleshpur.
