Earlier this week, the latest trailer for “Venom: The Last Dance” unveiled the highly anticipated villain Knull, making his debut in a live-action setting. Created by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman in 2018, Knull is a formidable cosmic god known for establishing the Venom symbiote race, which eventually turned against him.
On social media, Stegman expressed surprise at Knull’s cinematic introduction, humorously commenting on his expectations for compensation linked to the character’s appearance. Cates joined the conversation with a succinct but pointed remark, cleverly altering the Venom logo to suggest “money.”
Introduced as the main antagonist in Cates and Stegman’s “King in Black” crossover event in 2020, Knull has not yet featured prominently in other media, although hints of his existence were noted in the Spider-Man 2 video game released last year.
Reports indicate that Marvel has a policy for compensating creators when their characters transition to film or TV. However, the specifics of these agreements can vary significantly, as evidenced by a 2022 report detailing a notable decrease in compensation for the creators of Yelena Belova.
The excitement builds as “Venom: The Last Dance” is set to hit theaters on October 25, promising a thrilling continuation of the Venom saga.
