In a shocking incident, armed bandits have kidnapped the wife and two sons of the Village Chief of Galadimawa, Aliyu Galadimawa, in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The abduction occurred late Monday night around 11:30 PM, as the bandits stormed the village, firing shots to instill fear before breaching the chief’s residence.
The victims include Fatima Aliyu, the village chief’s wife, along with their sons, Abdullahi and Kamal.
Hussaini Umar, the Sarkin Fadar Galadimawa, confirmed the distressing news and voiced his concerns regarding the lack of adequate security in the region. “Our security here is inadequate. We desperately need help,” Umar stated, calling on the state government to enhance security measures in the area.
Umar criticized the current Mobile Police unit’s effectiveness, highlighting the escalating frequency of abductions and violence that has severely impacted the community. He further noted that approximately 20 neighboring villages have relocated to Galadimawa due to rising insecurity.
As of now, the Kaduna State Police Command has yet to respond to this alarming incident. Attempts to contact the command’s Public Relations Officer were unsuccessful, as calls to his phone went unanswered.
This incident follows a troubling trend in the region; in June 2024, six people were reported killed and several others kidnapped in a similar attack when bandits invaded the Bauda and Chibiya communities in Kajuru Local Government Area. Reports indicate that these armed assailants arrived on motorcycles, equipped with sophisticated weapons, creating havoc and destruction.
