Justin Timberlake has entered a not guilty plea to a revised misdemeanor charge following his June arrest for driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor, New York. The Village Justice has suspended the singer’s driver’s license in the state.
Timberlake appeared at the hearing virtually from Europe, where he is currently on tour promoting his latest album. The judge emphasized the importance of caution during the proceedings and warned of potential repercussions for Timberlake’s counsel regarding comments made to the press.
The incident that led to Timberlake’s arrest occurred when he was reportedly driving home from a party in the Hamptons. Police observed him failing to stop at a stop sign and weaving out of his lane. Timberlake declined to take a breathalyzer test and did not pass a field sobriety test, which included standing on one leg and performing a walk-and-turn. He claimed to have only had one martini and was following friends home at the time of the stop. A further conference hearing in the case is set for August 9, at which Timberlake’s presence is not mandatory.
