In a significant update for cricket fans, England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler will be sidelined for the forthcoming one-day international series against the West Indies due to a setback in his injury recovery. Buttler, who has not featured since the T20 World Cup in June, is reported to have experienced “a slight setback in his rehabilitation” from a calf injury.
As Buttler continues his recovery, Lancashire all-rounder Liam Livingstone has been appointed as the acting captain for the three-match ODI series, starting on October 31 in Antigua.
The 34-year-old Buttler also missed England’s T20 and ODI series against Australia in September but remains a part of the tour squad. He is expected to travel to Barbados with the hopes of returning for the five-match T20 series commencing on November 9.
No decision has been made yet regarding the addition of a replacement player for the ODI series. As the cricket world watches closely, fans eagerly anticipate Buttler’s return to the field.
