Almost 40 years after his debut in the pages of “Swamp Thing,” John Constantine’s formative adventures are set for a reprint in a deluxe hardcover compendium. This extensive first volume collects Constantine’s solo storylines and is available for $139.50 (discounted from $150) ahead of its release on October 15. Spanning nearly 1,600 pages, this compendium serves as a comprehensive exploration of London’s dark supernatural realm, complete with a wealth of supplementary material.
This collection features the acclaimed writings of Jamie Delano, who played a pivotal role in developing the character of Constantine across multiple issues. Readers can look forward to notable stories such as “The Fear Machine” and “The Family Man,” illustrated by renowned artists including John Ridgway and Stephen R. Bissette—who contributed to the signature dark aesthetic of “Hellblazer” comics. The compendium includes:
– Hellblazer #1-22
– John Constantine: Hellblazer Annual #1
– Swamp Thing (Vol. 2) #65-77
– The Sandman #3
Additionally, it boasts a new foreword by Garth Ennis, another influential voice in the “Hellblazer” narrative, along with a fresh introduction by Delano, the previously unseen original proposal for the series, the complete script for issue #2, and more exclusive behind-the-scenes content.
In conjunction with this release, several classic DC compendium editions are also available for preorder, including the DC Versus Marvel Omnibus, which revisits iconic crossover events, as well as collections chronicling the legendary tales of Superman, Batman, and other beloved characters.
