Delhi Chief Minister Atishi emphasized the need for a broader evaluation of universities during her address at the second convocation of Netaji Subhas University of Technology in New Delhi on October 4, 2024. She urged that institutions should not be assessed solely on placement statistics but also on the job opportunities generated by their graduates.
Highlighting the pressing issue of unemployment, Atishi noted that while 81% of NSUT graduates found jobs, the focus should shift towards equipping students to create jobs for others. “The biggest challenge our youth face today is unemployment. Our goal should be to not only secure the best job but also to create job opportunities for others,” she stated.
In her speech, Atishi also highlighted success stories from the Delhi government’s Business Blaster program, which offers financial support to school students looking to launch their own startups. This initiative aims to foster entrepreneurial spirit among the youth and stimulate job creation in the region.
The event was attended by Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, who underscored the importance of youth in contributing to national development, recognizing them as the nation’s greatest asset.
