Jennifer Castle has officially revealed details about her upcoming seventh studio album, Camelot, set to release on November 1. The Canadian singer-songwriter has unveiled a new single titled “Lucky #8” from the album, featuring notable contributions from slide guitarist Cass McCombs and lead guitarist Jeff McMurrich.
The release of “Lucky #8” is accompanied by a captivating music video that compiles vintage clips of historic gymnastics routines, showcasing gymnasts like Lavinia Milosovici, Shannon Miller, Dominique Moceanu, and Nadia Comanici, reminiscent of Castle’s childhood memories.
In her reflections on the track, Castle describes “Lucky #8” as embodying an energetic essence, capturing the complexities of life and inviting listeners to embrace them rather than succumb to fragmented narratives.
This new single follows her earlier release, “Blowing Kisses,” which also features on Camelot and was highlighted in the third season’s penultimate episode of The Bear.
For Camelot, Castle collaborated with McMurrich and McCombs, alongside previous collaborator Owen Pallett, who arranged strings performed by Estonia’s Fames Skopje Studio Orchestra. The album also includes contributions from pianist Carl Didur, drummer Evan Cartwright, bassist Mike Smith, and guitarist Paul Mortimer, along with backing vocalists Victoria Cheong and Isla Craig.
Castle’s last studio album, Monarch Season, was released in 2020. Stay tuned for more updates as the release date approaches.
