Jay Rock was arrested in Los Angeles on March 13 after police reported discovering a firearm in his vehicle. A representative for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the Top Dawg Entertainment rapper, known legally as Johnny Reed McKinzie, was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to reports, Los Angeles police initially stopped Jay Rock, asserting that he was trespassing at an apartment complex in the Watts neighborhood. Officers allege that he attempted to flee in his vehicle when they tried to detain him. He was subsequently booked after the firearm was found in his possession. At this time, Jay Rock remains in police custody.
