Japandroids are set to make a splash with their latest single, “All Bets Are Off,” from their highly anticipated final album, Fate & Alcohol. This new track, which wraps up the album, was inspired by a night off during a tour when singer-guitarist Brian King encountered an old flame while observing the lively atmosphere in a bar.
“All Bets Are Off” adds to the excitement following the release of previous singles “D&T” and “Chicago.” The full album is scheduled to debut on October 18. In discussing the creative process behind this final LP, King stated that Japandroids ensured each song was fully refined in their jam space before bringing it to longtime recording engineer Jesse Gander, emphasizing their focus on energy and volume.
The duo, consisting of King and singer-drummer David Prowse, formed in the mid-2000s while studying at the University of Victoria in British Columbia. They released their inaugural album, Post-Nothing, in 2009 after moving to Vancouver, followed by Celebration Rock in 2012, Near to the Wild Heart of Life in 2017, and the live album Massey Fucking Hall in 2020.
As Japandroids prepares to conclude their journey with Fate & Alcohol, fans eagerly anticipate the album’s release.
